Portrait Photography // August 4th

Hosted by Light Gallery + Matthew Provoast

Saturday, August 4th from 10am to 1pm

This class will be taught with DLSR and mirrorless camera users in mind.

Learn how your camera works so that you can create beautiful portraits during this hands on workshop. Matthew will guide you through the process of artfully composing the frame, choosing the appropriate settings for your camera, understanding how exposures are made, and developing a practical method of taking portraits. This class is specifically designed for those who want to learn more about camera basics and those elusive manual exposure settings in order to make compelling portraits.

Workshop Topics:

  • Understanding exposure + ISO settings

  • Depth of field + capturing movement

  • Composition + framing basics

  • Mini-work session

Participants are encouraged to bring their own camera. An extra battery, memory card, and your camera’s instruction manual are also very helpful to have on hand at this class.

Part of the class will include spending time outdoors, in natural light, practicing camera settings and taking portraits. We will be working with a live model.
